Broadway Dance Camp
"A unique experience"
Download
The Broadway Dance Camp was created back in the spring of 1989 at the Winter Garden Theater, where Frank Mastrocola was appearing on Broadway in "Cats" as the "Rum Tum Tugger". Frank's wife, Anita Ehrler had recently concluded a successful performing career on Broadway and was in her second full year of building Anita Ehrler's Dance Extensions into the successful performing arts studio it is today. One night backstage, as Frank sat around talking with his fellow "Cats", the idea was born. To have Anita and Frank's friends who were involved with Broadway come out to the newly formed Anita Ehrler's Dance Extensions in Park Ridge, NJ, during each summer and teach students from the studio, and so it was aptly named " The Broadway Dance Camp".
Since that summer many teachers from such shows as Starlight Express, Dancin', Sweet Charity, Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, Kiss of the Spyder Woman, Forum, Will Rodgers Follies, Smokey Joe's Cafe, La Cage Au Faux, The Martha Graham Co., Crazy for You, Guys & Dolls, Pippin, A Chorus Line, Dream Girls, and Cats, to name a few, have taught at the camp.
This unique camp has provided a training ground for many young dancers over the years. The experience of interacting with working professionals has proven to be both fun and challenging.
We thank you for your interest in the camp and look forward to another great year.
